A quick update on the KL Trip.
Day 1:
Departed from SG at around 6am. Arrived at JB Larkin at around 8 am. I was pretty determined not to get conned again by the touting people. Walked straight to transnational booth. And bought my 2 KL ticket from the person standing in front of the booth. End up. Conned by them again. Have to sit in the black bus call bas eskpress. Lesson learnt: Get ticket only from people IN the booth.
After an exceedingly long journey, finally arrived in Puduraya bus terminal at 2pm. Walked to our hotel, checked in. Place was very small. Swiss inn was much better. Dropped out stuff, and headed out for Berjaya Times Square straight. Took a nice cup of coffee at starbucks and headed down to low yat plaza to check things out. Nice IT shopping centre. Much better than Sim lim. But Funan still nicer. Prices of Wind 7 is just 419 rm. Super cheap compare to sg prices.
After checking stuff out, headed out to Berjaya times square. And as usual, did our shopping there. Had dinner at one of the jap restaurant. Not very nice. Taste very malayish. Went back to our hotel at night, ate supper at the claypot mee tai mat. Tried their fried dumplings. Fantastic dumplings. And it was time for sleep.
Day 2:
Woke up in the morning for breakfast. Hotel breakfast was pretty horrible. Nothing to shout about. Next we headed towards Mid valley mega shopping centre via their substations. Shopped till I wanted to die. Went to the robinson building beside it, Nothing much to buy over there as all the shops were too expensive. Ate Domino Pizza for lunch and Teppanyaki for dinner. Back in China town at night and went to shop at the area under the hotel.
Day 3:
Woke up in the morning for horrible breakfast. Went to KLCC Suria. Turn out to be another shopping centre. Very much wanted to go Twin towers, but the tickets were out. So we have to settle for some other stuffs. Decided not to shop as we were broke, watched a movie instead. Sherlock Holmes was awesome. And the movie ticket price was pretty cheap. After that we headed back to KL Sentral to take the express train to LCCT for our flight. The train was very fast. Much faster than our MRT. Transport wise very convenient. Arrived at the Airport under 1 hour. Ate dinner at Marry brown, took our last walk around the airport and up the plane.
Arrived in Singapore faster than i can read finish my newspaper, and in time to count down to Christmas in singapore.
Total cost of this trip adds up to around 200 SGD. A tat over budget.

Decided to change the blog skin. Think its been long overdued for a new one. And yep, im boring, so i picked one out from the lists of available default skins from blogger.
Use to remember hunting for nice skins when blogging was more in fashion. But apparently, i think the fad has just died off or something.
So i have given up on AA306. Shall decide to reduce losses by just memorising the key stuffs. And hope that those which i do not understand will not appear. Ha.

I have came up with sort of a 10 years road map. Or the general direction in what i want to do.
First 3 years -> Audit
Next 5 years -> CAD
And finally Forensic Audit.
I hope to earn like 8k a month after 10 years. But that depends on quite a number of factors.
In addition: I would hope to own a car in 3 years time and probably get married after 5 years of slogging in the accounting world. By that time, hopefully the combined income of me and my future wife is still under 8k. Else it would really be a bummer. [Apparently auditors with 4-5 years of working experience earn just under 5k.]
Ultimately stay in a condo so that i can take advantage of the facilities available.
Big dreams.
Possibility of it happening? Not very high. I probably be lucky to get a car, earn 5k/month and stay in a conveniently located HDB flat. Ha.
But of cause, dream big, so you can attain something eh.

i think the effect of knowing that your love one is going overseas for a couple of years do really changes the way you view the future and the present.
it sort of make me want to treasure as much time as i have with her. and of course, to want to have as much happy times as well. so i have to learn to drop the trivial stuff and just focus on us being happy instead.
although that would be quite a challenge on my part.
in addition, i begin to think about the stuff that we wont be able to do in next year. Like our birthdays. Anniversary. V day. My convocation. Christmas. New Year. Which explains why i would want to spend as much of these together.

bah, career choices is such a pain in the ass.
I know going audit is natural. But after hearing so much horror story about it, im beginning to think twice.
Banks seems to be a good place to start. High pay right off the bat. Furthermore, i may have the luxury of backdooring into one of the european ib. However, i just not so keen on it. Yet.
And as luck would have it, position for CAO in CAD is opened. Itched to apply, but the application seemed to be for graduated student only. Sent an email to check if graduating students can apply. but i shall keep my finger crossed.
All in all, i have no idea what i wan to do for my first job. >_<. Frustrating isen't it.

It has been an awesome 2 days. Celebrating birthday with my dear.
The celebration started on sat, whereby we went to secret recepie with jer in tampines as dear said that she got cravings for secret recepie. So me and jer shared the cost and we had 3 cakes there. After which, we just went home to rest and sort of 'count down' to her birthday. But of course, the countdown did not really happen. Ha

The next day, we went church in the morning. The church fella did a small celebration for the birthday people before sunday school. Followed by a nice lunch in ION. One of the jap restaurant. Think it is Sho Teppan or something. The food is really good. But its a bit pricey. So no regular eating for me. I will put up the pictures soon. Really like the concept. Have decided that next time, my house dinning table shall have an built in electric stove for simple cooking pleasures.
Afterwhich, we went to the aust uni fair in Orchard hotel. Took a look at UQ and Sydney. The melbourne personnal was too stuck up, so we decided to give it a miss altogether. Seems like she have decided to got to UQ. Since they are pretty prestigious in the field that she want, and she get 1-1.5 year cut from the normal curriculum. I hope its 1.5 then she would not have to be gone for too long. Haha.
Next, we went to bakerzin in paragon to stuff ourselves with tons of desert. Loads of icecream and 1 blueberry cheesecake. Will put up the pictures later.
After that we went to joe house to catch man utd vs liverpool. Played some really stupid blackjack game. Whereby we each bet 1 cup of water, and the loser have to drink up the water. Healthy living eh. Well, in the end liverpool won the match. Amanda was pretty devastated by it. By oh well, you win some, you lose some. And chelsea is still TOP! so i have no complains about it.
After that, both of us went home. So i hope it was a marvellous birthday for you!

sometimes i feel really useless in the sense that i have no income, and thus, unable to satisfy certain spending habits that her friends are able to shower her with.
which in someway, induces me to want to start work early, to earn more money early, so that i can lavish her earlier.
But, that is not within my control. If things go accordingly to plan, by the time i have money, she would not be here for me to lavish on anymore.
on another note, the 6th of nov is coming in another 2 weeks time. hopefully, things will be better for me, and we can close this chapter in our relationship and move on to other things.

sometimes im quite amazed at the things i do. for the simple reason that most of the things that i chose to do simply are irrational and illogical.
For example today,
woke up with a sore throat and bad flu. Dripping whole day. Yet, i insisted on going church to settle some accounts stuff. The journey there was horrible. Doing the actual account was still ok. But after the accounts, things get worse. Headache sets in. Feels bit giddy and light headed. Was deciding if i should stayed on for cell. Friend told me to go home, GF told me to stay. So i stayed, went to Macs at anchorvale CC. Grabbed a burger, and i took a nap there till 6. Woke up, still feel quite dizzy. Walked back to church to wait for cell to start. And finally cell started after anguish waiting. Had the impulse to cab home on 208502370225th occasions. But decided against it. Cell leader offered a ride home. I declined. He sent me to compass point with the rest. And i endured the journey home. Took a quick shower.
Now im waiting for someone's sms reply. But somehow feel that she is too busy enjoying her supper. maybe she forgot that im sick. its been half an hour since my reply to her. [apparently she said tat she did not receive my last sms to her.]
I would want to feel cared for in my sickness. Just an sms to show care and concern would be nice enough.
Still feeling horrible. hoepfully, things will be better tomorrow. hopefully.

The Mayonnaise Jar
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle.
When 24 hours in a day is not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly,
he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar,
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full... They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar...
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded With an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table,
and poured the entire contents into the jar,
effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life..
The golf balls are the important things: God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions -
Things that if everything else was lost, and only they remained,
your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house and car.
The sand is everything else - The small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life..
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
you will never have room for the things that are Important to you.
So... Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.Take time to get medical checkups.Take your partner out to dinner. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
'Take care of the golf balls first - The things that really matter!
Set your priorities... The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand, and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.'I'm glad you asked'.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Went to do a bit of research. And i found out that eros was never used in the bible at all.
To some of you who don understand, eros is greek for sexual love. Something along the lines of romantically in love. And i guess its true. Such love doesn't last. When one gets old, the physical attractiveness will fade away. So what is left then if you had depended on eros to see you through in your relationship?
In both Ephesians 5:28 and Colossians 3:19, it stated that husbands should love their wives. And the love used is agape love. Which in greek terms, love that is unselfish and unconditional. The whole idea is to give 100% and expect nothing in return.
Man being man, is to a certain degree, self-centered. In the sense that they would want something for themselves, or in a minimum sense, want their basic rights. However, agape love goes beyond all that. In fact, its absurb that who would want to put himself in such a disadvantageous situation to give and not to receive.
But that has what God call us to do. To love each other. Agapely. If there is such a word. This is the only love that can be grown, matured, nursed and preserve. I hope that people would learn how to love more agapely. How to give, and yet don't desire to receive.

Alright some snipplets of my life.

This was taking during my sec school days. Probably in VCH? Im not really sure. Anyway, it was taken during musical world. And it appeared in my sec school year book. And it also appeared on the mural on the new school building. So i guess my face is gonna be plastered there for another 10-20 years or so. Not that i am complaining.

This is the ezlink card which i drew with ken. Apparently it was before the year of the pig and there was some promotional stunt going on. Draw a picture of 2 pigs, and stand a chance to win something. Of cuz, the minimum you would win is having the picture printed on the ezlink card. Too bad, i think i still haven know michelle yet. So its kinda gay. haha

This is my famous poison toe. And no its not really poisoned. Just damaged. Toe nail too long, and went to play floorball. Ended up, the toe nail get nailed too hard within my shoes and this is the end result. Well, the nail eventually got lost in Sentosa. Admist one of the sand pit over there.

This is jack daniel + coke. And its quite a bit. I was half drunk after finish the stuff. And, i went to play squash after being half drunk. I felt that i had played better. Even though i was under the influence of alcohol. But i was less self conscious about banging the wall to catch shots, so i caught more shots and sustained more injuries. Excellent trade off.
And finally, this is the most loved mass dance in VJC. Well, im pretty neutral about it. Was surprised to find it online. And go leaders to guide you how to dance at the top right corner. All in all, it was pretty neat and solid. Well thats all for today.

Been thinking back about my life. I guess its always good to think about the past events that happened in your life and evaluate those decisions. Suffice to say, up till date, i have not regretted any decision that i had made. And well, i hope in the years to come, there won't be any decision that i would regret. Over my life, i made 4 decisions that impacted me heavily and here they are in chronological order!
1) My secondary school
During that time when i was still a primary 6 kid, i had no notion of good schools or bad schools. To me, all schools were the same. And i still remembered i was aiming for anderson sec simply because it had a pretty high entrance points. Well, thanks to my tuition teacher at that time, i applied to Victoria School instead, on the premise that VS and VJC were affliated. Hmm, but i think, i still placed Anderson as first choice and VS as second. I guess in a way, thank God that i dint do so well for my PSLE. Ha. If not i would probably ended up in AS instead. Of course, what follows after that is pretty natural. Going to VJC was a very simple choice. Although its an important decision, i felt that if i haven entered VS in the first place, i wont be in VJC. I would probably end up in some poly. Not that poly is bad. But i really enjoyed my time in VJC.
2) CCA
Well, it sure was surprising that i wounded up in band as my CCA. I never was a music person in primary school. Cant read those notes, had absolutely no idea wat key, time signiture and cleft signs. But all i know, was that the band was very impressive. Probably i was still young and had an easily impressionable mind. But heck, i dint wan to join those boring uniform groups and sports wasn my cup of tea. So band it was for me. The initial 2 years were pretty tough on me. Technique wise, i was the lousiest and sort of always got scolded. It was probably at the end of my sec 2 that i somehow improved in leaps and bounds. Which, until now, i have absolutely no idea why. My section mate was telling me that my playin was horrendous in sec 1, but i had suddenly improved so much that i was way better than them. Not to forget, i was pretty tone deaf. So it was in all quite an incredible feat for me. Of course, I rejoined band in VJC, simply cause i thought i need the appeal to enter VJC. But its all good. I got all my best friends from band. So being in VS/VJC band was really God blessings.
3) Uni Course
The next big decision to make was the course to take in university. Well, its big cause its somehow gonna affect the rest of your life on what your gonna do for a living. But maybe to most people who felt that what you do after university doesn't relate to what you have studied might not agree with me. Nevertheless, the course that i took would definitly affect me in a huge way. Since i have decided to take up Accounting, i would probably end up in the Big 4 as an auditor. That would most probably chart the course for the rest of my life. Of course, its still ongoing, but i can forsee the impact to be very great on my life.
4) Being with michelle
The decision to be with michelle probably was the biggest decision and most impactful one for the past 2.5 years. Although i was with her before i got into university, but i had already chosen my course before i knew her, so the chronological order is indeed correct. I have learnt many things from this relationship, grew from this relationship and most importantly, learnt how to appreciate her for who she is in my life. I enjoyed every single moment with her, be it up or down.
So thats it, the 4 most impactful and important decisions in my life. In fact thinking back, I din't plan for any of these to happen. I din't plan to go to VS. It was by luck and chance. I din plan to join band. In fact, i was pretty inclined to join NPCC before school started. I din't plan to join accouting. I wanted to do EEE. But decided not to during the second year in my army. And lastly, i din't plan to be Michelle. She was too young at that time. But i guess, God really works in wonders. I won'nt be where i am now, if i had planned my life and went through with it.

I dont believe in true love.
But i believe in real love. Love that doesn comes by magically or seemingly attraction or chemistry.
Those things will not last.
However, the discipline of real love will last. Patient, Endurance, Encouragement, Trust, Faith, Honesty, Self-sacrifice.
Yes, real love takes effort. And that is a choice to make. And i have made my choice.
But i believe in real love. Love that doesn comes by magically or seemingly attraction or chemistry.
Those things will not last.

Weird, blogger on dear's laptop is screw up as well.
Oh well, i guess it doesnt matter. Im just gonna do a small update anyway.
Friday was quite an interesting day for me. Went to the new HSS library in NTU. And wow, another great effort in making the library looks high class.
Well after that, I was called up to have an interview with one of the development professor. We talked the usual stuff. About my opinions of the school, my internship and my career advancement and wat-nots. But of course, all these are just mundane parts of my life. Naturally, i was curious as to why was i involved in such interview, as i am pretty much sure that not the whole cohort are involved in the interview. To my surprise, upon enquiring, the reason why i was picked wasnt on random. Rather, when they wanted to interview students, they approached some tutors to ask them who left a deep/good impression on them. And my name came up.
I wonder who that tutor would be. And all along i thought i was pretty low profile. And i thought such interviews were reservered for the top scorers! Well, that incident really made me feel good about myself i guess.

I feel that perhaps this blog had lost its meaning. But i guess it sort of reminded me of how i was.
Ignorant and apathetic.
I wish I would be able to exhibit these traits better now. Too much attachment to 1 thing is really unhealthy. Perhaps its too far gone. Perhaps I should learn to close my heart again. This shit is really A.P.I.T.A.S...
Learn and live i guess. Learn and live. We all would come out stronger. Eventually. Hopefully. Need to find strength. Need to find rest. And peace. And security.
Ignorance and Apathy come to me.

After reading this and this, make me want to be politic activist.
Seriously, something need to be done. But i really doubt i have the power. Think do not even have the chance to exercise my votes. Oh sadness.
Perhaps the only way is for me to is to be Auditor -> Accountant -> Financial manager -> Financial controller -> Chief Fiancial Officier -> President.
But, its not possible. haha. Hopefully, few years later, it won't be a walk over anymore.

I think everyone do come into the stage in their life where they question ultimately, what is the purpose do they have in their life.
Some want to be rich and wealthy. Some want to do good for others. Others just simply want to enjoy and live life to the fullest. However, the question is still the same for everyone. What is the purpose in your life?
Before answering that, perhaps is important to find, who decide the purpose in your life? Do you decide the purpose in your life? Or maybe its your parents? Silbings? Peers? Or maybe the society that you are in?
Knowing who sets your purpose in your life, is important. Without knowing that, you are just blindly catching air in vacuum.
But i guess, that are many reasons for people setting various purpose in their lives. Be it childhood dreams, coercive parents, societial norms or even desperate situations in your life, everyone have a different learning experience and that results in a different outlook in life and ulitmately, the perceived purpose in life.
However, other than life, the 70 short years that you will be spending now, it will be more important to think about your afterlife. Afterall, that is going to be the eventual outcome of your life, there is simply no point in ignoring it. You may think that there is no such thing as after life, and such, there is obviously no point in thinking about it. However, perhaps take some time out of your busy schedule and just ponder upon this question.. Where will you be after you die? No seriously.. Im not kidding..
Maybe ask yourselves the following 2 questions.
1) Do you believe in the existence of heaven?
2) If yes, what must you do to get there?
3) If no, where will you go after you die? (Reincarnation?)
Just as when you DIY a computer, the purpose of the computer is the ultimate use of it, which sets the paremeters in the components. So in life, what is your ultimate destination? That will specify your purpose. Remember man came to earth in nothingness and will leave likewise. Rather than asking what value you derived from your actions, try asking, what eternal consequences do you reap?

J.P. Morgan had been quite a nice experience.
The whole assessment thing was smooth. Although time was pretty tight, but i guess all turn out fine. The interview by itself was pretty all right. However, i screw up my case presentation as well as the group case project. Oh well.. anyway, they are only accepting 6 out of a miserable 18 people, so my chances ain't very high. So im not having any high hopes for it. Well, they say the results will be out either today or monday, but since today has past, i guess its monday for me then. Or they probably have contacted the successful applicants first on today and leave the whole monday for them to slowly reject the rest.
Not having any high hopes for this internship. But the experience was pretty interesting. And im glad that the setting is very much friendlier and less formal. So it wasn't really so bad afterall.

In the book of Job
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. - Job 1:1
Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes. - Job 42:6
These 2 verses really strike me alot. At the beginning, Job was blameless. Upright. And he feared God and shunned evil. However, at the end of the book, he actually repented!
For those who do not know the story of Job, he was a man full of richness, but everything was taken away from him by the devil.
So what implication does this have? This Job, is like a beaker of water. With sand sediments at the bottom. From the surface, yes, he is clear, he is blameless. However, in every man, there is this sediment of sin. And all it takes. Is just a bump. A bump to the beaker. And the sand will mix with the water and the water will become muddy. Chalky. Cloudy.
So God does bump people. Even more to those people who think that they are righteous. Then those sediments of sins can be found. And only then can those sins be confessed and taken out. Thus, let everyone:
Abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes. - Job 42:6

After 3 weeks in school, im quite on par with my readings. I guess that goes halfly to my determination to get a 5 point for this sem just to show that I can. Ha.
Done a various few other things. Applied for INSTEP to go alberta in Canada. If i got it, i would most probably take up a 10k loan in NTU. Otherwise, I would have to cough the money from somewhere. I am soon going to end up as a poor man.
So far, of all the subjects, risk is the only one that i have been really following the lesson. Taxation was bad. The tutor cannot teach. Marketing was fine. The tutor cannot teach also, but i feel that its a course that I can do relatively well with just textbooks and their diagrams. Law was the worse. The language use is far too difficult. Guess i need to read up the cases instead to understand them. All in all, it seems that its going to be a good year.
Amonst other things, I have done the JP Morgan test for Ops intern. Apparently alot of people do not like working as Ops in banks. This really piques me up. Thus, I am more incline to go JP Morgan and see just exactly how chui is Ops myself.
Marketing Presentation was good. The tutor say we did quite good. However, we did it all under just a 1 x 2 hours meeting. So i guess we will be REALLY good if we had met up with each other more frequently. Despite the inclusion of a rarity, we are really enjoying our marketing thus far.
That is all for the updates. Chinese New Year is coming up soon. Had bought some clothes and can't wait for it to come. So that i can relax, and read up my lagging Law/Tax/Marketing. Haha.

After a long hiatus im finally back.
Its been a long holiday. Nothing much worth mentioning other than the KL trip with my hime and li ling.
Im just going to post some photos and let the pictures do the narration.

the whole trip cost $160 with a few spare cash here and there. Well, it was a worthy trip considering the budget. Furthermore its pretty fun too.
Results for the past semester was the worse so far. But i still manage to maintain my seconds uppers. In addition, i attempted to appeal my results. Just trying for fun. Ha. Hopes it would be a nice surprise for me.
School started and i just received another pay cut for my current job. So i have decided this to be the last sem since the hours put in just doesn't cut it anymore. This sem would prove to be another hell for me. Taxation, Company Law, Marketing and Risk. In addition to an ADM module this would be pretty hectic sem. Luckily, i manage to procure a space in hall and can enjoy the time savings.
So i guess this year would be pretty interesting for me. Decided to set a full 5 point goal just for fun. Think i had been slacking too much the past 1.5 years and see what can i make do with hardworkingness.
